Aotearoa New Zealand - My Journey into Carving Pounamu

29 Nov 2017

Pounamu Koru Pendant

by campbellpotter | posted in: Uncategorized | 0

This is a beautiful form. I fell in love with it more as I carved it.

pounamu, koru, jade, greenstone, pendant, necklace, maori, carve, carver, campbell, stone, new zealand, pendant

The koru traditionally represents, new growth and challenges, new beginnings or a fresh start.  The shape comes from the new shoots of ferns in the nghere, the bush as they unfurl to become the new fronds of the plant.

This one was made for a friend to gift to an overseas visitor that has made strong connections with Aotearoa and the people here.
